According to Allergy NZ, allergies affect almost 50 per cent of New Zealanders. Many people with allergies are living with the time bomb of life-threatening allergic reactions, where a mere trace of something as innocent as peanuts, shellfish, wheat, dairy products or eggs, an insect sting, exposure to latex or specific drugs can have them experiencing one of the most terrifying types of reactions; anaphylactic shock.
Yet many people may be suffering from an allergy or intolerances and not even know about it - allergy symptoms may include hives, swelling around the mouth, diarrhoea, vomiting, stuffy nose and hayfever symptoms and eczema (a skin rash). Symptoms of intolerance are sometimes vague and can include a combination of the following: headache, fatigue and irritability, gastrointestinal problems such as bloating and wind, diarrhoea, nausea and indigestion, aggravation of eczema or asthma, and joint pain.
Diagnosing an allergy or intolerance
At elementa we use hair testing to test for food and substance allergies and intolerances. This can assist you by indicating what allergens or intoerances may be present.
ELEMENTA TESTING & TREATING SERVICES:
Elementa has a number of options available:
OPTION 1. Diagnosis by hair analysis: Hair testing by EAV machinery
This is an allergy/intolerance hair test using an EAV machine that measures changes in the electro-magnetic resonance of the hair sample when exposed to different foods, additives and other substances.
TOTAL COST $99 (normally $120)
Just fill in the allergy and intolerance testing form from our testing agents or book in with a consultant today. Any problems filling out the form simply call elementa - specialists in natural health during business hours on 09 520 4015 or email elementa (info@elementa.co.nz).
Then cut a lock of hair (from the roots) of approx 1 inch in length and .5 inch in width and place the hair sample in a small clean plastic bag and write your name, address and phone number on the bag.

OPTION 2. Basic allergy & intolerance testing treatment programme.
This includes;
1.A one hour assessment consultation with a naturopath or nutritionist to assess whether an allergy or intolerance seems likely and to discover your general state of health and wellness or if other illnesses may be present. During this assessment we cover many aspects of health notably diet, lifestyle and mental and emotional factors, all of which can create imbalances in our system causing general ill health and eventually leading to disease. We also find out what you want to achieve by coming to us. If at the end of the session it is decided that allergies or intolerances do not appear to be present the therapist will recommend an individually tailored healthcare programme or other course of action.
2. Diagnosis by hair analysis: Hair testing by EAV machinery as in option 1
3. Half an hour follow-up consultation with your naturopath or nutritionist to decide on a plan of action to treat the allergy/intolerance with the correct herbal medicines, supplementation, diet and/or lifestyle changes.
TOTAL COST $250

Two commonly used orthodox allergy tests are the skin prick test and the RAST or CapRast blood test. However these tests do not pick up intolerances
The elimination diet and oral challenge test are popular ways to diagnose a food intolerance. All suspected foods are completely removed from the diet for 1 to 3 weeks. A small amount is then reintroduced and if symptoms reappear, the intolerance is confirmed. This test can also be performed to diagnose a food allergy.
It is important that this test is undertaken under the supervision of an experienced health practitioner, allergy specialist or dietitian to make sure that proper nutrition is maintained. If there is a risk of a severe reaction, foods should never be reintroduced without first consulting a health professional, especially in children.
